Machine vision technology is an important branch of computer science, it integrates optics, machinery, electronics, computer hardware and software and other aspects of technology, involving computer, image processing, pattern recognition, artificial intelligence, signal processing, opto-mechatronics and other fields.

Machine vision light source is the use of machines instead of human eyes to make various measurements and judgments. On the production line, people making such measurements and judgments will produce errors and errors due to fatigue, differences between individuals, etc., but the machine will continue tirelessly and steadily. In general, the machine vision light source system includes a lighting system, a lens, a camera system and an image processing system. For each application, we need to consider the speed of the system and the processing speed of the image, the use of color or black and white cameras, the size of the detection target or the detection of the target has defects, how much field of view needs to be, how high the resolution needs to be, how much contrast needs to be. From the functional point of view, the typical machine vision light source system can be divided into: image acquisition part, image processing part and motion control part.

The main working process of a complete machine vision light source system is as follows:

1. The workpiece positioning detector detects that the object has moved close to the center of the field of view of the camera system, and sends trigger pulses to the image acquisition part.

2, the image acquisition part in accordance with the pre-set procedure and delay, respectively to the camera and lighting system to send a start pulse.

3, the camera stops the current scan and starts a new frame scan, or the camera is in a waiting state before the start pulse comes, and starts a frame scan after the start pulse arrives.

4, the camera starts a new frame scan before opening the exposure mechanism, the exposure time can be set in advance.

5, another start pulse to turn on the light lighting, the opening time of the light should match the exposure time of the camera.

6. After the camera is exposed, the scanning and output of a frame image is officially started.

7, the image acquisition part receives the analog video signal through A/D to digitize it, or directly receive the digital video data after the camera digitization.

8, the image acquisition part of the digital image stored in the processor or computer memory.

9. The processor processes, analyzes and recognizes the image to obtain measurement results or logical control values.

10, processing results control the action of the pipeline, positioning, correcting the error of the movement, etc.

From the above workflow, it can be seen that the machine vision light source is a relatively complex system. Because most of the system monitoring objects are moving objects, the matching and coordination of the system and moving objects is particularly important, so it brings strict requirements for the action time and processing speed of each part of the system.

The advantages of the machine vision light source system are:

1, non-contact measurement, will not cause any damage to the observer and the observed, thereby improving the reliability of the system.

2, with a wide spectrum response range, such as the use of infrared measurement invisible to the human eye, to expand the visual range of the human eye.

3, long-term stable work, it is difficult for humans to observe the same object for a long time, and the machine vision light source can be measured, analyzed and identified for a long time.

The application field of machine vision light source system is more and more extensive. In industry, agriculture, national defense, transportation, medical care, finance and even sports, entertainment and other industries have been widely used, can be said to have penetrated into all aspects of our lives, production and work.
